When the Access Manager icon is double-clicked from the Windows 'Quick Launch' toolbar, Access Manager is actually opened twice. The second copy of Access Manager is not able to open the config file and the settings & preferences, including the Professional Edition Product Key, are unavailable.
The solution is to try not to launch 2 copies of Access Manager at the same time. If you keep a backup copy of the AccessManager.config file you can restore it if the problem occurs. |

This topic should be a sticky!
It worked for me!

Would you also discuss any possible security risk(s) associated with a back-up of "AccessManager.config" file? |

This problem is fixed in version 2.1.58.
I am not aware of any security issues with the config file. |

While using fully updated WinXP Pro, my copy of AM (version2.158) reverted back to the FREEware version, yesterday.
However, I did not have two distinct instances running at the same time and/or AM was not minimized to the TaskTray.
I had simply clicked on the desktop shortcut icon to launch AM as normal: The AM log-in dialog only showed the password (but NOT the UserName) entry field.
Lucky for me, replacing the AccessManager.config file allowed me to recover it back to the AM Pro again. |

| I keep all my stuff on a usb drive which has suddenly reverted to free. Only ever open the stuff on the usb drive tho I do sometimes back it up to somewhere on the C drive. How do I get the USB drive back to the pro version without losing everything? |

| You can re-enter your Product Key details and Access Manager will revert to the Professional Edition. |
