Currently, Access Manager does not support 64-bit versions of Windows. You could try one of the following:
1. If you have Windows 7 Professional 64-bit or Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit you can install Access Manager in 'Windows XP Mode'. See http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/default.aspx for more information.
2. If you have Windows Vista Premium 64-bit you can try the following:
- Install Access Manager
- Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the "C:\Program Files(x86)\" folder.
- Drag the "Citi-Software" folder to the "C:\Program Files\" folder.
- If you have any Start Menu or Desktop shortcuts you may need to change the paths or re-create the shortcuts.
- Navigate to the "C:\Program Files\Citi-Software\Access Manager 2\" folder and right-click on the AccessManager.exe file and select Properties then click the Compatibility tab.
- Select 'Windows XP Service Pack 2' Compatibility mode.
- Select 'Disable desktop composition'.
- Click 'OK'. |

I just would like to share with you my success and how I am finally able to use AM on my windows 7 PRO 64 bit installation, which was previously running on my 32 bit XP computer.
On your OLD installation save the "AccessManager.xdb" and "AccessManager.config" files from your current installation for use on your new installation. (Probably here C:\Program Files\Citi-Software\Access Manager 2)
Install "Windows XP Mode" and "Windows Virtual PC" from the Microsoft Web site, this is free if you have a genuine installation of Windows 7 PRO.
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx
Follow all the instructions on the MS site. Your installation will also be 64 bit
This may take a long time to install - for me one of the instructions was that it was installing "Do not turn off the PC" and took a very long time. There was no on screen status, and one had to resist the temptation that the installation had hung.
Run XP mode for the first time and follow all onscreen instructions
You will need to install an antivirus on the virtual XP mode, to all intent and purpose it is a PC within a PC.
Copy your AM installation file "AccessManager.msi" to inside your Virtual PC - I made a folder in "My Documents" called "Downloads"
Run your AM installation file, and it will first promt you to install DOT.NET 2. You must let it do it. This will also be DOT.NET 2 64 bit.
This may say that it needs to reboot your computer - if it does it restarts the VM XP MODE and not actually your computer.
Re Run AM installation file and install "Access Manger"
Open File Manager in the VM (Not your main Windows 7) and go to "C:\Program Files\Citi-Software\Access Manager 2" folder
Delete "AccessManager.config" and "AccessManager.xdb"
Copy these same files that you saved from your old installation to this new installation
Run "Access Manager" and you should see all your password data.
It worked for me - I can't promise that it will work for you. |

Thanks Centaur,
I have also heard that VMLite works well. www.vmlite.com
We haven't tested it yet but some people have told us that they've had good results. |
