First, I saved everything VERY carefully.... to the point of having a blind spot.. I saved Access Manager's serial in with the data file... so when reinstalling I could not open the database.. duh Embarassed

So, I requested info again, which the admin kindly furnished. Voila.. it worked. Back to Pro with the database entered. Good! Yes.. got a few progs installed with access to their serials.

Then, last night I noticed some of the info was disappearing from the database as pulled in, and I could not reenter the password to one of the progs. I used....... the notes section did not open, and I could not save changes. Strange I thought.

Then I opened it this AM to see what was up... and I'm once again in Free mode, no database showing. When I enter my name, email and serial as was sent, I get a do not recognize password.

Any ideas??

Thank you so much... don't we all just luv those Windoze reinstalls!

Try copying your backup of the AccessManager.xdb file to the installation folder.

I cut and pasted the .dbx file into contact manager and replaced the file that was with the new install. The I opened the contact manager and cut and pasted the serial number in, along with an email address and my name. Closed and reopened. It was then professional. Following this, I attempted to load the .dbx file with my passwords.

I again got a message asking for a password, but to the best of my knowledge, have not used one in this install, and certainly not in the last. Curiously, when I first checked the program install folder, I found the .dbx with a locked key icon, and a Windows Office file over it, although it still said .dbx... I think. In any case, when I tried to open this file, I got a request for the password that does not exist.

Sigh... do you have any other ideas? Could this be a Win7 kerfluffle? I need to retrieve these passwords. If I have to give up, I'll email the password to my Windows Vista laptop, and activate on that machine, but this would mean I am giving up using the prog, which I rather like, on Win7 and have come to the conclusion that there is some sort of bug. Sad

Thank you for your response.

I'm not sure that I fully understand your question/problem. Access Manager does not use any files ending in .dbx. You can just copy the AccessManager.xdb file to your installation folder.

Also, you could check that you have a 32-bit version of Windows.

Apology... I meant .xdb.. was a typo. And I did put the AccessManager.xdb in the installation folder which was located in Program Files by the default. I did this after the program was installed and replaced the default .xdb.
After the system refused to open, and btw, a few passwords did show up in the Manager, I went back into the Program Folder and found that the data file for Access Manager had the icon associated with Microsoft Access on it. And when I tried to open the .xdb file, I was asked for a password.

Windows 7 appears to have confused MS Access with Access Manager....

This did not happen when I was running XP. Do you have any suggestions. I really need the data... may try to reinstall one more time, but I think the base problem is that the default administrator, and I may have tried to enter something when blowing by, though I had no indication anything 'took'. But the program is definitely asking for a password..... however, if this is the issue, why did I find an Access file icon in the Access Manager Folder.

Sorry this has turned into such a time burner..

I'm not sure that I fully understand your question/problem.

- You cannot open the AccessManager.xdb file directly.

- Please describe in simple steps the probelm that you are having.

I installed Access Manager... 3 times now. After installing, I have cut and pasted the old database over the new one. Then I open Contact manager, at which time the database with all the information shows up, though the title bar does not say it is the professional version, and I cannot make any changes.

I then go to tools and enter the registration information you gave me:
Lynn Martin
lynnspurchases@gmail.com with the registration serial you sent.

After this is entered, I receive a rejection message that the serial is not valid, incorrect.. After I shut the program, it reverts back into the trial version, and upon reopening, only shows 4 of the passwords in the database.

I just tried opening it again... this time all of the passwords are actually still there, but when I look at the help, About Access Manager..... I see access manager is the free version which tells me that at some point, it will revert, and only display 4 passwords again.

For a 5th time I just reentered the product key and once again am getting the message "Invalid Product Key for this Name and E-mail address. I have no option but to click cancel, if I click OK, the box keeps coming back with the same message.

How can I get Access Manager to recognize it is full version?
Thank-you,
Lynn

You need to enter the Product Key details exactly as show in the original email. Check that there are no extra spaces or other characters etc.
