Yes; Thank you I looked at that link, I'm running Win7 Home pro and I don't want to upgrade windows or run VM. I understand a little what you are up against, I spent twenty some years working in IT, but I've been retired for eight years and now the only thing I care about a computer is it works. Smile My thought was a small stand alone program to convert the data base. We had inhouse developed billing programs with large data bases. With every upgrade these data bases had to be converted.
Thank you

Love this program, used for a long time. I was a beta tester for you. I send many people to this site to get the program. Windows 7 64 bit user now and I am dead in the water and sad. My life is in Access Manager I use it many times a day.

Is there any progress in getting a 64bit version in the works?

Right now I have imported my 412 passwords (really like 600 - numerous under one entry) into Keepass. It was not a smooth import and I have a ton of copying and pasting to do.

If a new version of AM is in the works (soon). I will only do my most used pw's in keepass.

What say ye bossman?

Frank,

It's in the works but no date yet. For more info, take a look at the other 64-bit posts.

Another option is to install a full legal copy of WinXP as a virtual machine running in VM Ware Player 3.0. You will need a legit XP license key and your copy of WinXP from the CD. You will also need at least Win7 Pro, Ultimate, or Enterprise, couldn't get VM Ware Player to "enter unity" mode on Win7 Home Premium until I upgraded to Ultimate. There are some excellent articles on how to do this on www.howtogeek.com

EDIT: forgot to add the bit about needing Win7 Ult/Pro/Ent

I have now tried installing AM2 through the XP Mode setup in Virtual PC as well as using the VM Ware Player 3.0 approach on my Win7 Ultimate 64 bit OS. Using the Virtual PC method, I can get it to install and show up in the XP Mode Programs menu list, but the program just won't run in this Virtual PC configuration of XP Mode.

However, AM2 runs flawlessly under VM Ware Player 3.0 when you have a Win7 Ultimate/Professional/Enterprise license. It isn't as convenient as a native WinXP installation, but it isn't terrible either. It will run for me in "unity" mode and is very close to being "seamless" with Win7. Until a true native Win7 64 bit version of AM arrives, this seems to be the best way, at least for me, to continue using the product.

Well, I must have zigged when I should have zagged... I DID get AM2 working under XP Mode on MS Virtual PC....seems to be stable. My only complaint is that it loads much more slowly as a "virtual program" when you are launching it outside of the VM.

But at least there are multiple confirmed ways to run this program as long as you have Win 7 Ultimate, Professional, or Enterprise versions.

Before I upgraded to Win 7 Ultimate, I attempted to configure VM Ware Player 3.0 under Win 7 Home Premium and do a full WinXP installation from my old license and disk. Unfortunately, I was not able to get the "unity" functionality to work with Home Premium and thus I upgraded my Win7 license. However, this article from HowToGeek explains how it may be done and if so, some of you may avoid having to upgrade your Win7 license. Hope it works for you, here is the article link:

in reply to JSsmith I too have decided to look for an x64 replacement. AM works fine in emulation XP and also in VMware but to power up a simulator to run a single application adds a significant load on system resources (especialy memory wth VMware

I too have used AM for years and use it for password, software keys, home equipment serial numbers and just about anything I want to keep a passowrd, number, webaddress or picture or screendump of. it is probably my 3rd most used program after Firefox and Outlook.

Why don't I want to change - its just too damn good, and the password selector is brilliant for mutiple input prompts for words and single characters - but now 2 of my 3 systems are x64 and when the 3rd is replaced it will be too (won't give up the benefits of i3 and i7 processors.

please update us x64 users on a possible development schedule if you can. I'm ok to wait a few months and will happily pay a new licence fee for the x64 version, don't particularly care about backwards compatibilily / ingterchangeability of x86 /x64 databases providing I can export to CSV format and import.

Dave,

We are currently waiting for Microsoft to release the latest version of their development tools (hopefully sometime in April). This will greatly help us to moved forward with the 64-bit version of AM.

I will keep you informed.

Can you say something new regarding the development of a 64bit-Version? At least something like "It will happen!". In this case I will wait for the release even if it will still take a while. But if you're in a "maybe/maybe not"-state of mind I will have to look for another password manager, which I would be sorry about.

Frank,

There is a good chance that it will happen. We are still waiting for the release of the new development tools - which should be this month.

Ok, here I am back again with the same old question: Any chance regarding a 64bit-Version of Access Manager? It seems development of the software has ended; is that so?
